Ingredients

For the Dough:

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

¾ cup milk, warmed (110°F)

⅓ cup granulated sugar

⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

½ teaspoon salt

For the Filling:

1 cup apple butter

1 cup pecans, chopped

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ cup brown sugar

For the Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a small bowl, mix the warm milk with the active dry yeast and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center, then add the melted butter, egg, and the yeast mixture.

        - Mix together until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.

          - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

            Make the Filling:

              - While the dough is rising, mix the apple butter, chopped pecans, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar in a bowl until well combined.

                Roll Out the Dough:

                  - Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 12x18 inches in size.

                    - Spread the apple butter filling evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small edge (about 1 inch) around the sides.

                      Form the Rolls:

                        - Starting from the long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seams to seal.

                          - Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in a greased baking dish.

                            Second Rise:

                              - Cover the rolls with the kitchen towel again and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes at room temperature.

                                Bake:

                                  - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

                                    Prepare the Glaze:

                                      - While the rolls are baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth.

                                        Glaze and Serve:

                                          - Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool for about 10 minutes. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls before serving.
