Ingredients

1 large French baguette or ciabatta loaf

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

6 cloves of garlic, minced

1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tablespoon lemon juice (for brightness)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), and lemon juice. Mix until well combined and creamy.

Slice the Bread: Cut the baguette in half lengthwise. If using ciabatta, slice it horizontally to create two equally thick halves.

Spread the Garlic Butter: Generously spread the creamy garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread. Make sure to get into all the nooks and crannies for maximum flavor.

Add Cheeses: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the buttered sides. Follow it up with an even layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.

Season: If desired, sprinkle a bit of Italian seasoning over the cheesy top for added flavor.

Bake: Place the prepared bread halves on a baking sheet, cut side up. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the butter is bubbly, and the cheese is melted and slightly golden.

Broil for Extra Crispness: For an extra crispy finish, switch to the broil setting and broil the bread for an additional 2-3 minutes. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Slice into smaller pieces and serve warm as a side dish or appetizer.
