12 oz fettuccine pasta

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

Zest of 2 large lemons

Juice of 1 large lemon

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions
 

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil, then add the fettuccine. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside the pasta.

    Make the Creamy Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.

      Add Cream and Cheese: Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly. Gradually mix in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.

        Incorporate Flavors: Add the lemon zest, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet. Stir well to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is achieved.

          Toss the Pasta: Add the cooked fettuccine to the sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
