Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 ½ cups warm milk (110°F/43°C)

1 large egg, room temperature

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for garlic herb mixture)

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped

1 teaspoon dried thyme

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and 1 teaspoon salt.

Combine Ingredients: Create a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add the frothy yeast mixture, the egg, and melted butter. Stir until the ingredients come together into a shaggy dough.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour, a tablespoon at a time.

First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Prepare Garlic Herb Butter: In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, rosemary, thyme, black pepper, and ½ teaspoon sea salt. Set aside.

Shape the Rolls: Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Divide it into 12 equal pieces. Form each piece into a smooth ball and place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30-40 minutes, or until they’ve puffed up and are touching each other.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Apply Garlic Herb Butter: Once the rolls have risen, brush them generously with the garlic herb butter mixture, ensuring each roll is well coated.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve: Remove from the oven and brush with any remaining garlic herb butter. Let cool slightly before serving.

Enjoy your warm and flavorful Garlic Herb Butter Dinner Rolls as a perfect side for dinner or a delightful treat on their own!
