Ingredients

1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

Zest of 1 lemon

Juice of 1 lemon

1 teaspoon sea salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare Asparagus: Rinse the asparagus under cold water and pat dry. Trim the tough ends, about 2 inches, so that you're left with the tender parts.

Mix the Marinade: In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, sea salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk until all ingredients are well blended.

Coat the Asparagus: In a large mixing bowl or on a baking sheet, place the trimmed asparagus. Drizzle the garlic-lemon mixture over the asparagus and toss gently to ensure each spear is evenly coated.

Arrange on Baking Sheet: Spread the asparagus in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Make sure they're not crowded to ensure even roasting.

Roast the Asparagus: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast the asparagus for 12-15 minutes, or until they are tender and slightly crispy on the edges. The asparagus should be bright green in color.

Garnish: If desired, remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Return to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Transfer the roasted asparagus to a serving platter. Serve with lemon wedges on the side for an extra zesty kick.
