Ingredients

1 large loaf of crusty Italian or French bread

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cloves of garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for serving)

1/2 cup pepperoni slices (or any preferred pizza toppings like bell peppers, onions, or mushrooms)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, dried oregano, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Slice the Bread: Cut the loaf of bread in half lengthwise, creating two long halves. If desired, you can hollow out a bit of the inside to create more space for the filling.

Spread the Garlic Butter: Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread, ensuring an even coating for maximum flavor.

Add the Cheese and Toppings: Sprinkle a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the garlic butter. Then layer on your pepperoni slices (or other toppings) and finish with another generous sprinkle of mozzarella cheese on top.

Bake: Place the prepared bread halves on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the bread are golden and crisp.

Add Parmesan and Broil (Optional): If you like a little extra crunch on your cheese, switch the oven to broil for the last 1-2 minutes. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning. Just before serving, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top for added flavor.

Slice and Serve: Remove the melted pizza bread from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Slice into individual pieces. Serve with warmed marinara sauce on the side for dipping and garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired.
