1 pound Italian sausage (mild or spicy, based on preference)

1 cup pepperoni slices

1 package (12 oz) rotini pasta

2 cups marinara sauce

1 cup diced bell peppers (red, green, or a mix)

1 medium onion, diced

3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the rotini pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

      Brown the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the Italian sausage. Cook until browned and no longer pink, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.

        Sauté Vegetables: Add the diced onion and bell peppers to the skillet with the sausage. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 3-4 minutes. Season with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

          Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rotini, sausage and vegetable mixture, marinara sauce, half of the mozzarella cheese, and half of the pepperoni slices. Stir until everything is evenly mixed.

            Assemble the Casserole: Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and the rest of the pepperoni slices.

              Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
